Hosts

A number of hosts exist within the network of various categorisations:

Internet Servers

Central

Central is a small virtual machine providing a home point for other servers/services.

Sol

Sol is a dedicated server used to run heavier workloads and intranet services.

Neptune

Neptune is the primary node in a clustered application service.

Pluto

Pluto is the secondary node in a clustered application service.

LAN Servers

Mercury

Mercury is a low power device with dual ethernet ports that provides internet gateway routing/firewall/NAT services only.

Earth

Earth provides primary offline backup services and local staging for anything more complicated, it's automatically powered on once a day for backups and then powered off again, but can be brought online for other scenarios.

Jupiter

Jupiter provides secondary offline backup services ; it is powered on once a day, snapshots and backups the network and then powers its self off again, containing a backup vault equivalent in size to Earth.

Proteus

Proteus is a raspberry pi configured as command and control server, running Master Control Program (MCP), disk unlocking services and quick access functions (see MCP)

Ganymede

Ganymede is a pocket PC with a good day's battery life, it is used as a remote keypad terminal (see 'daily network routine') as well as keeping some aspect of the network alive in case of a power failure.
